GLUTEN FREE PUMPKIN/BEEF/FLAX doggie treats

Somedays, after breakfast is a thing of the past, and I’ve waffled between tying a few flies, and making the hounds some treats, for when they’re a wee bit peckish, I succumb, and get out the rolling pin. These little bickies are mindless, have endless possibilities in regards to flavor, and can be made in a hurry…Here is the recipe:

 

5 cups brown rice flour

1/4 cup milled flax seed

4 jumbo eggs

1 1/2 cups pumpkin puree

1 tbsp baking powder

1/2 cup beef broth, or any kind of broth you like

Combine the dries, and make a well in the center. Add the beaten eggs into the bowl, along with the pumpkin puree. Mix in your stand mixer, or with an industrial size wooden spoon, (like the one pictured).Image

Add just enough H2O to make a cohesive dough, it should not be a slurry, more like playdoh consistency. Chill for 1 hour, roll out about 1/8 inch thick for crispy bickies, 1/4 inch for chewier ones. 350F , for 10-12 minutes….3-5 mins more, if you want them to be a little crunchier. If you think that the smell won’t attract the animals, the photo should dispel that notion!!Image
